- Name = DeSEA 1.5.sit
- Path = AMUG CD:Files:Unstuffers:Other Compression:DeSEA 1.5.sit
- Size: 24K Date: 6/20/94 Version: 1.5
- Description:
- DeSEA 1.5 - With the large number of multiple compression utilities,
- everyone has begun to create self-extracting archives (SEAs). While this is
- all-and-well, self-extracting archives add to the file sizes of files being
- transferred. While 10-20K for the self-extraction code isn’t much, it
- rapidly adds up over multiple transfers. In addition, the use of
- self-extraction features on small files can often cause the file to be
- larger than the original, uncompressed file. DeSEA removes the
- self-extraction code from a self-extracting archive. DeSEA is currently
- configured for the three most popular compression programs - Compact Pro,
- Disk Doubler (pre-4.0 and 4.0), StuffIt Classic/Deluxe, and NOW Compress.

- Path = AMUG CD:Files:Unstuffers:Other Compression:UUPrepare 2.01.sit
- Size: 42K Date: 6/13/94 Version: 2.01
- Description:
- UUPrepare 2.01 - A utility for those who use Usenet via America Online.
- UUPrepare is a program to make it easier for America Online users to
- download graphics files (and certain other files) from Internet (Usenet)
- newsgroups. These files are encoded through a method called uuencoding,
- which allows binary files (like pictures and applications) to travel
- through the Internet's ASCII-oriented mail system. Various programs,
- including a very good one called UULite, have been written to decode
- uuencoded files. However, these programs do not work on files downloaded
- from AOL, because the AOL software screws the files up considerably. What
- UUPrepare does is prepare files from AOL so that they can be decoded later.

- Size: 48K Date: 4/18/94 Version: 2.13
- Description:
- MacLHA 2.13 - This is a program to work with and create archieves. You can
- decide the file type stored in archive file. If this option is selected,
- one check button and nine radio buttons appear at the bottom of a list of
- archived files. They are divided into "MacBinary", "Path", "Header", and
- "Type". When a list of archived files appears, "MacBinary" is ON, "Path" is
- partial, "Header" is level 1, and "Type" is LHA. MacLHA has the
- compatibilities with LHA, LHarc or LArc for each system. But if an archive
- file created by LHarc for other systems has sub directories in it,
- sometimes MacLHA cannot defreeze it correctly.

- Path = AMUG CD:Files:Unstuffers:Other Compression:MacCPIO v0.2.sit
- Size: 19K Date: 4/01/94 Version: 0.2
- Description:
- MacCPIO v0.2 - MacCPIO is a quick and dirty CPIO archive creator utility.
- The intent was to write a program for the Mac with a Mac "look and feel"
- that would generate a CPIO archive which could then be uncompacted on a
- Unix machine. The inspiration behind this was things like SunTAR and the
- fact that I wanted to do this at work for archiving lots of Mac source code
- in a Unix format. MacCPIO archives are made by adding one one file at a
- time chosen from the standard Mac "Open File" dialog box. As it's
- selected, each file is both added to the growing CPIO archive and added to
- a scrolling list of files. The main window's title always shows the current
- archive's name and size. Find out more in the Read me!

- part of the Stuffit Deluxe™ Stuffit SpaceSaver™ and SITcomm™ packages. This

- is to first comress and then binhex files for electronic distribution. It
- is intended to be used as a drag and drop application. You can use it to
- choose files, but not folders, from the 'File' menu. After I had written
- this it turned out that Drop•Stuff (also part of Stuffit Deluxe™ package)
- also does this. I decided to go ahead and distribute it because lots of
- people have the Stuffit Engine as part of Stuffit SpaceSaver™ and SITcomm™.
